We are looking for a talented and experienced Senior Data QA Engineer to join our team at Mixbook Moldova, where you'll have the opportunity to make a difference in the world of creativity and human connection. As a Senior Data QA Engineer, you will ensure the accuracy and reliability of data pipelines and transformations through comprehensive testing. You will diagnose and report data quality issues, collaborate across teams to resolve complex defects and drive improvements in testing strategies to uphold the highest standards of data integrity and system performance.

The Platform and Data team within the Engineering organization serves as the backbone for data across Mixbook, delivering the foundation upon which our insights, prediction models, and AI investments thrive. We are seeking candidates based in Moldova, where a hybrid work model is available at our office in central Chisinau.

What You’ll Do  

• Develop and execute manual test strategies to validate data integrity and consistency across data pipelines.
• Monitor and ensure the accuracy of data ingested into data warehouses and data tools.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and create comprehensive test cases.
• Occasionally test the accuracy and performance of analytics dashboards, reports, and data models.
• Validate data sources and pipelines feeding into business intelligence tools.
• Analyze root causes for data discrepancies and collaborate with engineering teams to resolve issues.
• Detect, track, report, triage, and prioritize software defects and bugs, working closely with developers to reproduce issues and support their resolution.
• Develop strategies and methods that bring clarity and rigor to our testing approach.
• Regularly update and review testing documentation to reflect the latest standards and processes and ensure alignment with testing requirements.
• Develop and maintain a comprehensive library of relevant test cases.
• Provide critical feedback and insights to enhance our software development lifecycle, contributing to continuous improvement.

What You’ll Need  

• 5+ years of proven experience as a Data QA Engineer, Data Analyst, or QA Engineer.
• Experience in testing data pipelines within ETL projects involving complex transformations on large-scale datasets (1M+ records) from diverse sources.
• Strong SQL skills for validating and analyzing complex datasets efficiently.
• Experience with ETL tools (e.g., Custom ETL, Fivetran/AWS, ZeroETL) and data warehousing solutions (e.g., Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery) is a strong plus.
• Experience of API (including REST) testing tools such as Postman would be an advantage.
• Understanding of Cloud application development, particularly AWS, CodePipeline, Cloudformation, etc., is a strong plus.
• A flair for diagnosing complex data-related and other problems.
• Proficient in designing test plans, writing test scenarios, and translating acceptance criteria into comprehensive test cases, both positive and negative.
• Strong knowledge of diverse testing techniques (e.g., Black Box, API, Regression, Usability, Exploratory, and Ad-Hoc Testing).
• Experience collaborating across teams; able to explain detailed test cases and results to non-QA staff and contribute insights to product improvements.
• Intermediate English speaking skills, level B2 or greater.
• Analytical mindset and detail-oriented, with an ability to triage bugs effectively and advocate for high-priority fixes.
